Teaching Approach
- Be a role model for young women.
- Teach students to show leadership and take initiative to identify and solve problems themselves.
- Listen and communicate effectively so that all students can perform safely in labs and communicate their findings. (Queen Margaret's School has a 50 percent ESL population.)
- Apply leading-edge brain research findings on how girls learn to teaching in an all-girls environment.
Outstanding Achievements
- Implemented the use of Tablet PC (a notebook computer with a touch screen) as an instructional tool at Queen Margaret's School by creating new ways of using the technology and then training other teachers to use it.
- Collaborated with Toshiba Canada and wrote its Tablet PC Curriculum Integration Guide for Educators.
- Collaborated with fellow science and mathematics teachers to build up interest among the school's all-girl population such that 70 percent of Grade 11 students are taking two or three sciences along with mathematics and other required subjects.
- Founded an Amnesty International chapter at the school to teach students about civil rights issues around the world.
