It is with great pleasure that I present Exemplary Practices, a guide to the best teaching practices in the fields of mathematics, science and technology.

Canadians live in a world in which strong skills in science, technology and mathematics are essential to their own future success and, indeed, to maintaining our national prosperity. Through their dedication and enthusiasm, teachers can make these subjects come alive for their students, opening up a whole new world of exciting career choices and setting students on a path of lifelong learning. Such creative teaching methods make an invaluable contribution to the prospects and outlook of our youth and, in turn, to Canada's growing culture of science and innovation.

In Exemplary Practices you will find out how the 1993 and 1994 national-level recipients of the Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence in Science, Technology and Mathematics have met this crucial challenge.
